About Mississippi Watermelon Festival
Since 1978, The MISSISSIPPI WATERMELON FESTIVAL has been hosted and sponsored the 3rd weekend July by the Town of Mize Volunteer Fire Department. This year will mark the 41st anniversary of the festival. The festival is held at the Mize City Park in downtown Mize. Mize is located in the southwest corner of Smith County along state Highways 28 and 35, amid the pines, oaks, dogwoods, and magnolias (not to mention kudzu) typical of south-central Mississippi.
Town of Mize Volunteer Fire Department
All proceeds go to the Town of Mize Volunteer Fire Department. The festival is registered as a nonprofit with the state of Mississippi, is all volunteer, and most of the volunteers are fire department members and their families. With your support, the department was able to obtain a new fire engine!
