More than 75 percent of the nation’s tart cherries are grown on farms surrounding Traverse City, so it’s no surprise this small Michigan city is home to the largest Cherry Festival. Come to town and you can get cherry pie and pick cherries on nearby grounds, and you can also enjoy the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds performing flying feats, listen to country and rock music and watch fireworks. Naturally, there’s both cherry wine and cherry beer to be had here too.
