December 31 – AdAmAn Club Pikes Peak Fireworks
Pikes Peak, Colorado
The Pikes Peak AdAmAn Club has been a Pikes Peak Region tradition since 1922. It is a unique group of mountaineers, who each year on December 30th and 31st, climb the icy slopes of Barr Trail on the east face of world famous Pikes Peak. At the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve, we fire a spectacular fireworks display, which on a clear night, can be seen for hundreds of miles along the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies and eastern plains.
May – Annual Blues, Brews, and BBQ
Beaver Creek, Colorado
As the unofficial launch of summertime in the mountains, top barbecue chefs from around the state join local chefs in serving up mouth-watering barbecue complemented by thirst-quenching microbrews at one of the largest Colorado Microbrewery beer tastings!
June – 20 – Annual Colorado BBQ Challenge
Frisco, Colorado
Approximately 70+ BBQers will compete for a variety of awards. Teams compete in a wide range of categories including pork, ribs, chicken, brisket, anything goes, barbecue sauce, side dish, salsa and dessert. Each team competes for the coveted Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion titles. You don’t want to miss out on getting your own plate of this BBQ! Other BBQ favorites include Chef Demonstrations presented on the Viking Stage; Pig Races; a Whiskey Tour (advance registration required); and a variety of musical entertainment.
